The Effect of Shadowing on English Listening Proficiency of Korean College Students

본 논문은 한국 대학생들을 대상으로 한 실험 연구로서, 영어 듣기 능력의 향상에 대한 섀도윙 방식의 영향과 인식에 대해 조사하였다. 경기도 소재의 한 대학교의 EFL 교실 현장에서 50명의 대학교 1학년 학생들을 두 집단으로 나누어, 두 가지 다른 처치를 하여 실험하였다. 각각 25명의 학생들이 듣기 위주의 반복 학습법과 섀도윙 학습법으로 4주에 걸쳐 학습이 이루어졌고, 모의 TOEIC 시험의 듣기 파트부분을 사용하여 사전/사후 시험을 통해 듣기 능력 향상도를 비교분석하였다. 또한 설문조사를 통해 한국 대학생들이 섀도윙 방식을 인식하고 있는지와 이 방식에 대한 선호도를 조사하였다. T-검정을 통해 분석한 결과, 본 연구에서는 듣기 위주의 학습법보다 섀도윙을 통한 듣기 학습이 한국 대학생들의 영어 듣기 능력 향상에 대해 보다 긍정적인 영향을 주었고 통계적으로 유의미한 결과를 보여주었다. 한국의 대학생들은 섀도윙 방식에 대해 익숙하며, 이를 활용한 듣기 방식에 대해 긍정적으로 인식하고 있음을 보여주었다.
