Abstract
The main goal of this study is to introduce urban infrastructure facilities as urban rain detention storages and to explore their functionality in the view of the Integrated Flood Management. The study site is a highly urbanized and historically flooded city in Gyeonggi province. The employed research methods are LTHIA (Long Term Hydrologic Impact Analysis) and NRCS storage estimation methods. Results show that 1) for the sound stormwater management under the 100mm/hr rain event, the city of Gwang Myung, Gyeonggi province needs urban rain detention storages with the volume of 11,606 ton, 2) the storage volume is managed with the multi-use of urban infrastructure facilities including road, park, school yards, and rooftops. It means that flooding resilient environment might be feasible even under the heavy rain (100mm/hr) through the strategic use of urban infrastructure facilities.
