초록

In this paper, I describe how to perform computer algorithm-based emotional analysis on Othello among Shakespeare's works using R programs. The main results of this study are as follows. First, words with an occurrence frequency of more than 20 times were extracted from Othello. The frequency of occurrence of several words was relatively higher than that of other words. Second, there are more words in Othello that have negative emotions than positive emotions. These results coincide with the overall character (i.e., tragedy) of this work. Third, this tendency becomes stronger as it goes to the second half of the play. These days, called the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, are rapidly introducing the global network environment and information technology. Reflecting this trend, the cultivation of industrial-type convergence talent is becoming a hot topic in universities, which seek to remove new barriers between academic disciplines and create new knowledge. In this context, this study has significance in that it embodies the practical convergence of literature and engineering on the basis of realistic convergence education.
