A Study on Keywords of English Education in the Post- COVID-19 by Text Network Analysis

The purpose of this study is to explore the main discussions related to English education in South Korea through analysis of web data generated since COVID-19. The research questions are as follows: over the past three years, 1) what are the main keywords of the English education network?, 2) what characteristics does each network by participant, learning type, school class, and learning space of English education have, and 3) who (what) has the greatest influence in each network? As a result of keyword network analysis and ego network analysis of 4,497 collected web documents, learning, school, student, lesson, online, teacher, and academy ranked among the top 20 in the frequency analysis, degree and betweenness centrality analysis. Network size, density, average degree, mean distance, and community centrality for the focal keyword were presented in ego network analysis. The analysis showed that the network size was large for student, school, online, and parent, and that the influence of parent and online node was very large and was in an advantageous position in the network constructing. Based on the results, suggestions for the future English Education are presented.
