Abstract

In sofar as the economic activity has been not regarded as the constituting activity for a necessary condition of salvation, there has been not the certain Christian ethical judgement about the wealth itself. Therefore, for much of history it has been con￾ceptualised as simply a ethical issue among many others. But to￾day, it is acknowledged that economic perspective is a decisive factor to understand the present society at all. To recognize the Christian attitude toward the economic ac￾tivity which pursues wealth, it is assumed that a Christian basic viewpoint about the economic success is transformed according to the change of socio-political structure from the middle age through the reformation to the modern age. In a word, while the economic desire for wealth itself was treated as ethically bad in the middle age, on the contrary, after the reformation age, it became to be respected as a sign of God’s blessing. Such a changed viewpoint of the economic wealth and success was attributed as a believer’s assignment for his(her) meaning of life. The econom￾ic success was not aimed for the fulfillment of personal desire of possessions. but accepted as a responsibility of believer for God’s glory. In today’s economic situation as a 4th industrial revolution age, as a Christian, we must, consistently with the conversation with the modern philosophers, keep the economic value judge￾ment that the economic achievement must be for the glory of God, and also must provide accounts of the relationship between economic growth and economic redistribution. In order to eluci￾date and confront today’s economic tasks, it is necessary, on the one hand, to minimize the nation’s intrude which is against the freedom of the economic activity and, on the other hand, to mo￾bilize and maximize the public awareness for the personal re￾sponsibility to achieve the admitting relationship with each other. Also, in the work of Joseph Alois Schumpeter, we can find a rec￾ognition that the economical activity could be defined as a co-work within the creative activity of God for the world. Moreover, following the new situation of modern industrial movement, we find a recognition of the God’s way to perpetuate the economic welfare. It is hanged upon the three dimensional relationships within the economic activity: the personality of labour, the close relationship of economic activity for the local community, the reasonable and harmonic setting with the natural environment.
