Abstract

Medical history was first taught in Severance Medical College in 1946 by Kim Doo jong, the founding father of medical histsiry in Korca. Today, oor half of the fort.y-thica medical colleges in Korea includo medical history courses. However, a lack of sufficient munbors of qualitied rcdical historians mans that many of the colleges experienco dillicities in runing The courses. As the munber of medical historians is zulikely to increase sulliciently in the near futuro to meet the donand, a 6-cducation programı needs to be initiated for the current. KctuCTS in charge of tho medical history courses. Another challenge facing the history of medical cducation in Korca is ilio incgration of medical history with medical hunnilios, which has recently emerged as an important issue in medical education. As medical humanities aims to develop sensibilities such as coupassion in medical students, the field locuses more on literature and ans than on history and philosophy. Therefore, a now nicthodology is requird to incorporate the coaching of indical history into the teaching of medical humanities.
