한국 이주 터키인과 이란인의 국제혼과 문화적응에 관한 연구

Abstract

Koreans and Turkish or Iranian immigrant Muslims and their acculturation in Korean society, focusing on intermarriage between natives and immigrant Muslims. Intermarriage with the host country population has generally been considered an important measure to immigrants for their easy adaptation in the society where the immigrants wanted to live. To search the intermarriage between an immigrant and a native, their situation of acculturation in Korea, we interviewed with 6 Turkish immigrants including one woman and 4 Iranian immigrant including two women. This article will show how the immigrant Turkish and Iranian Muslims marry with Koreans and adapt themselves to Korean society. The conservative Turkish and Iranian Muslims seem to have fewer desire to adapt themselves to Korean society than liberal Turkish and Iranian Muslims have. Because the conservative Muslims have priority to obey religious principles, finding prayer time and Halal food in their everyday life. Especially, the Turkish immigrant Muslims who have a higher education background and are conservative have initiative in deciding their family affairs. As a result, the conservative immigrant Turkish and Iranian Muslims seem to be more socially marginalized and excluded from major Korean social groups.
