초록
The purpose of this paper was to investigate Korean EFL university students’ ways of using an M-learning program and their perceptions toward mobile assisted language learning (MALL) implemented in learning English. To that end, 28 students experienced 10 weeks of an M-learning program that had been designed for the study. Data from a questionnaire given to the 28 students and follow-up in-depth interviews with 10 of the 28 students were analyzed, in terms of both quantity and quality. The questionnaire data analysis revealed that the students used the M-learning program in diverse places, almost everywhere, and the students showed flexible time spending habits for each M-learning use. The data analysis additionally illustrated that the students’ attitudes toward MALL in learning the language were either moderately positive or positive. Based on the qualitative data analyses, two specific themes were suggested: (a) advantages of MALL for the students and (b) aspects for improvements in MALL. The study demonstrates that MALL can be a convenient way for the EFL students to learn English, and it poses several pedagogical implications for implementing MALL in higher education.
