사범대학 교육과정과 진로준비에 관한 학생들의 인식조사

본 연구는 사범대학의 주요 구성원인 사범대생을 대상으로 교육과정의 진로도움 정도에 대한 인식을 조사하였다. 본연구를 위해 K대학 국어교육과, 영어교육과, 수학교육과 3학년과 4학년 총 206명이 참여하였으며, 학생들의 인식은 전공교육과정, 교직교육과정, 교육실습, 임용고사에 대한 영역으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 자료 분석은 빈도 분석, T-검증, ANOVA를실시하였으며 사후검증으로 Scheffé 검증을 실시하였다. 주요 연구결과를 살펴보면, 먼저 전체 206명 중 교직진출을 진로로결정하였다고 응답한 학생은 139명, 67.5%였다. 전공교육과정의 진로도움 정도에 대해서 학생들은 대체로 긍정적인 인식을하고 있었지만 진로희망별 인식의 차이가 있었다. 교직교육과정에 대한 학생들의 인식은 전공교육과정보다 부정적인 의견이더 많았다. 전공교육과정과 교직교육과정이 진로에 도움이 되지 않는 가장 큰 이유로 임용고사와의 연계성 부족과 이론중심수업을 꼽았다. 교육실습에 대한 학생들의 인식은 교직을 준비하는데 도움을 주지만 실질적인 교직에 대한 자신감 향상과 진로 결정에는 별로 도움이 되지 않는다고 응답하였다. 특히 비교직 진출을 희망하는 학생들의 80.8%가 별로 도움이 되지 않는다고 응답하였다. 중등교사가 되기 위한 임용고사 응시 계획에 대해 총 206명의 학생 중 적극적인 의사를 보인 학생은 119 명(57.8%)이였다. 남학생과 여학생 모두 삼수까지 응시하겠다는 응답이 가장 많았으며 다음으로는 재 응시를 하지 않겠다는응답이 가장 많았다. 본 연구의 결과는 임용고사 합격의 어려움으로 인해 교직과 비교직의 진로가 공존하고 있는 지금의 사범대 현실을 보여주고 있으며, 이는 학생들이 가장 바라는 학과지원으로 ‘임용고사 대비책 강화’와 ‘비교직 분야 교육과정 마련’에서도 확인 할 수 있었다. 본 연구결과는 사범대 역할에 대한 인식변화의 필요성과 함께 사범대생의 진로 다양화를 위한 노력이 필요함을 시사하고 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to investigate how pre-service teachers perceived their teacher preparation programs in terms of career preparation. 206 students from the department of Korean education, English education, and mathematics education participated in this study. The study used a survey for data collection. Frequency, T-test, ANOVA, and Scheffé test were used to analyze the significant differences based on individual variables. The results were as follows: 139 students (67.5%) answered that they chose a secondary teacher as their career. The students’ perceptions toward their teacher preparation programs were relatively positive. However, this results differed according to the student’s career decision. In particular, 80.8% of the students who decided to work in non-teaching fields answered that their practicum experiences did not help them to prepare for their future career. Only 119 (57.8%) students strongly responded that they were planning to take the National Teacher Qualification Examination. The results showed that there are a growing number of pre-service teachers who are seeking their career in non-teaching fields. The findings from the study suggest that teacher education programs need to develop a competency-based curriculum to prepare a pre-service teachers to teach future students and provide students with career diversification.
