본 연구는 2014학년도부터 2018학년도까지 시행된 영어과 중등교사 임용시험 1차 필기시험에서 출제된 영어학 문항들을 연도별, 세부 분야별, 문항 유형별로 분석했다. 총 30개의 영어학 관련 문항 분석을 통해서 2014학년도 개정 이후 임용시험에서 영어학 문항의 비중이 꾸준히 증가해왔고 가장 최근인 2018학년도 시험에서는 그 증가폭이 매우 커 문항 수와배점 모두에서 30% 이상을 차지한 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 영어학 세부 분야별로는 음운/형태 및 통사/의미 분야에서 대부분의 문항들이 출제되어 왔고, 주로 서술형 문항을 통해 자료의 분석력을 측정하는 것에 중점을 두고 있었다. 2018학년도 시험의 영어학 문항들은 특히 난이도가 어려웠는데 이는 기존에 출제되지 않았던 사회언어학 관련 문항 등이 출제되고 전문적인 언어학 용어에 대한 사전 설명이 부족했기 때문이다. 이와 같은 영어학의 출제 빈도 증가와 범위 확대, 난이도 증가는현재 영어과 중등교원 양성과정의 교육과정과 괴리가 있으며 이를 해소하기 위해 영어과 교육과정 및 임용시험의 개선이 필요하다.
Abstract
This study conducts an item analysis of the linguistics questions in the secondary school English teacher recruitment exams of 2014-2018. The frequency of the linguistics questions was examined by year, sub-field, and question format. The results show that the frequency of the linguistics questions has increased over the recent five years and the most recent exam of 2018 includes the highest number of the linguistics questions. Questions regarding phonology/morphology and syntax/semantics represent most of the linguistics questions, which test the examinees’ analytical skills using linguistic data. The linguistics questions from the exam of 2018 appear to be more difficult than the previous ones because the exam extends over topics from sociolinguistics and semantics that are not familiar to examinees and does not clarify the unfamiliar linguistic terms used in the questions. It is also shown that linguistics education in the current secondary school teacher education program is not likely to cover the linguistic knowledge required by the current recruitment exam, suggesting the need for change in the program or the exam.
