This study investigates characteristics and uses of digital music archives developed by national libraries in the U.S., Canada and Australia. Three cases are examined including National Jukebox of Library of Congress (LC) in the U.S., Virtual Gramophone of Library and Archives of Canada (LAC), and Music Australia of National Library of Australia (NLA). The study examined the content of the archives, search and browse functions, copyright and licences, and uses of the archives for education or research purposes. As it is common to access information via the Web and the importance of building digital music archives is emphasized, this study discusses implications for digital music archives in Korea.
