외부금융의존성 및 성장기회가 산업성장에 미치는 영향

본고는 Rajan and Zingales(1998) 및 Fisman and Love(2003)에 의해 시도되었던 技術的 外部金融依存性, 成長機會, 産業成長의 관계에 대한 이론적 토대를 살펴보고 이를 우리나라 산업별 성장에 적용하여 금융발전과 산업성장간의 관계를 분석하였다. 국내 산업별/연도별 패널자료를 이용한 실증분석 결과는 금융발전이 1980대에는 신용할당에 의한 외부금융을 통해, 1990년대 이후에는 성장기회에 따른 자본배분이 국내 산업성장에 더 크게 기여하였음을 보여주고 있다. 또한 본 실증분석의 결과는 국내 금융시장이 발전할수록 높은 성장기회를 갖고 있는 산업부문에 대한 자본배분이 일어나면서 관련 산업의 성장을 유도한다는 Fisman and Love(2003)의 가설을 지지할 뿐만 아니라 경제성장단계에 부합하는 산업부문에 자본을 배분한다는 Rajan and Zingales(1998) 가설의 타당성을 동시에 지지하고 있다.
Abstract
We reviewed and modified the theoretical bases of the relationship between technological financial dependency, growth opportunities, and industrial growth, which RajanZingales (1998) and FismanLove (2003) attempt to show. We then apply them to Korea's industrial growth to ascertain the relationship between financial development and industrial development.Using domestic industry/year panel data, we find that industrial growth increased in the 1980s as a result of external finance through credit-rationing and in the 1990s by financing according to growth opportunities. The results show that as financial markets develop, finances flow to industries where the growth opportunities are highest (FismanLove's(2003) hypothesis) and to industries that predominate at each stage of economic development (RajanZingales's(1998) hypothesis).
