참여하는 청소년은 행복한가? : 사회참여 활동유형과 성별에 따른 공동체 의식의 매개효과

초록

본 연구는 청소년 사회참여 활동유형을 구분하고, 이들 유형이 공동체 의식을 매개로 주관적 행복에 미치는 영향을 분석했다. 연세대 사회발전연구소가 2018년 실시한 전국조사 자료를 이용해 중학생과 고등학생 5,144명을 분석했다. 성별 집단으로 구분해 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저, 동아리 활동과 자원봉사 참여는 성별에 관계없이 공동체 의식과 주관적 행복에 정 방향의 영향을 미쳤다. 시민단체 참여는 모든 성별집단에서 공동체 의식에 정 방향의 효과를 나타냈지만, 주관적 행복에는 유의한 영향을 미치지 못했다. 종교모임 참여는 여학생 집단에서만 주관적 행복에 정 방향의 영향을 미쳤다. 팬덤활동은 모든 성별집단에서 공동체 의식과 주관적 행복에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못했다. 한편, 공동체 의식을 매개변인으로 설정한 분석에서는 동아리와 자원봉사 참여만이 성별에 관계없이 유의한 효과를 나타냈다. 동아리 참여가 주관적 행복에 미치는 영향에서 공동체 의식은 부분 매개효과를 나타낸 한편 자원봉사 참여가 주관적 행복에 미치는 영향 분석에서는 공동체 의식이 완전 매개효과를 나타냈다.

Abstract

This study examines how adolescents’ participation activities make an effect on happiness mediated by the sense of community. A gender-based mediation analysis was conducted in cases of 5,144 middle and high school students. The major findings are as follows: Firstly, club activity and volunteer work variables appeared to impact on community sense and happiness in both gender groups. The participation in civic groups made an effect on community sense regardless of gender. Religious group activity appeared to impact upon happiness only for female adolescents. Fandom activity didn’t make an effect on community sense and happiness in both gender groups. Also, using community sense as a mediation variable, club activity and volunteer work appeared to make a significant effect. For the effect of club activity on happiness, community sense showed a partial mediation effect. On the while, for the effect of volunteer work on happiness, community sense showed a complete mediation effect.
