대리양육 조부모의 양육스트레스가 손자녀의 학교생활적응도에 미치는 영향: 양육태도와 외현화 문제행동의 매개효과

초록

본 연구의 목적은 대리양육 조부모의 양육스트레스가 손자녀의 학교생활적응도에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 손자녀가 인식한 조부모 양육태도와 외현화 문제행동의 매개효과를 검증하는 것이다. 전국의 17개 가정위탁지원센터별로 대리양육 조손가족을 할당표집하고, 지역복지센터와 학교를 기반으로 유의표집된 총 186 대리양육위탁가정의 조부모-손자녀의 자료를 분석하였다. 경로분석 결과, 조부모의 양육스트레스는 손자녀가 인식하는 조부모의 양육태도와 외현화 문제행동에 매개되어 학교생활적응도에 부정적인 영향력을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 조부모의 양육스트레스는 손자녀가 지각한 적대ㆍ거부적인 양육태도에 매개되어 학교적응도에 부정적인 영향력을 갖는 것으로 분석되었고, 조부모의 양육스트레스가 권위ㆍ통제적인 양육태도로 인식되어 매개되는 경우 손자녀의 외현화 문제행동에 완전 매개되어 학교적응도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 대리양육 세대 손자녀의 학교적응력 향상과 조부모를 위한 서비스 및 프로그램 개입과 실천적 방안을 논의하였다.

Abstract

This study examines whether foster grandparents' parental attitudes and grandchildren's externalizing behavior mediates the association between grandparents' parental stress and their grandchildren's school adjustment. Specifically, this study hypothesizes that grandparents' parental stress increase negative parental attitudes, which increases the risk of grandchild’s externalizing problem. Externalizing problem behavior is, in turn, hypothesized to reduce the likelihood of school adjustment among grandchildren living with foster grandparents. The analysis sample consists of 186 forster grandparents and their grandchildren drawn from the 17 regional foster care service centers across the nation. Findings from path analyses reveal that grandparents' parental stress predicts a lower level of grandchild school adjustment. Parental attitudes and externalizing behavior also predict school adjustment among grandchildren, and fully mediates the effect of parental stress. Both parental stress and negative parental attitudes have negative influences for grandchildren that increase externalizing behavior while reducing school adjustment. Implications for the programs and social services of foster grandparents and their grandchildren's school adjustment are discussed.
