Abstract
This study examined the prevalence and predictors of unmet healthcare needs among female contingent workers using Andersen’s Behavioral Model of Health Services Use. Data were sourced from the 3rd year (2021) of the 8th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. A total of 571 female contingent workers who responded to all relevant variables were included in the analysis. SPSS 27.0 was used for statistical analysis, employing complex sample logistic regression with stratification variables, cluster variables, and weights. The results showed that 7.3% of female contingent workers experienced unmet healthcare needs, a rate higher than the national average among Korean adults. While no significant predictors were identified among predisposing factors, enabling factors such as residency, household income, weekly working hours, and participation in health check-ups were found to be significant predictors. Among need factors, activity limitations and subjective health perceptions were identified as key determinants of unmet healthcare needs. Based on these findings, institutional improvements were proposed to address the unmet healthcare needs of female contingent workers, a group often facing multiple forms of discrimination and inequality while exhibiting relatively low health levels. Recommendations included establishing outreach healthcare services and enhancing health insurance coverage guarantees for this vulnerable population.
