The purpose of this study is to explore the ways of children’s imagination and fantasy which had been developed during early childhood. First, this paper explains how children understand picture books when they are reading them. Second, it explains the ways children develop their imagination and fantasy during the period of reading picture books. Third, it integrates research findings of children’s picture books and children’s fantasy and illustrates children’s meaning making process during picture book reading period. Fourth, it shows that mind theory and children’s story telling clearly explains children’s knowledge about fantasy and imagination.
Abstract
