가시와기 기엔은 패전 전의 일본의 사상가로 새롭게 조명 받고 있다. 본고에서는 가시와기 기엔과 한국과의 관련성을 파헤치려 한다. 가시와기 기엔은 한일 합병 전후에 국가와 종교의 팽팽한 긴장 관계를 주장하며, 복음주의자보다 더 철저한 신앙심에 바탕을 두고 자유주의에 입각한 진보적 사상가였다. 가시와기 기엔은 피식민지로 전락한 한국을 「조선국」이라고 표현한 바 있는데, 이는 일본과 동등한 입장에서 미래를 내다보는 그의 탈경계의 진면목을 보여주고 있다. 조선 문제에 대한 관심은 제국주의를 철저히 비판하는 그의 예리한 사상을 지탱한 중심축이었다. 3.1 운동과, 1923년 관동 대지진 때, 조선인 학살 문제에 관해 날카로운 시각으로 일본 정부와 무지한 일본인을 비판한 것이 좋은 예로, 가시와기 기엔은 앞으로도 한일 관계의 바람직한 가교의 원형으로 기억되어야 할 것이다. 일본 내의 사회적 사건에 대해서도 언제나 정의의 목소리로 약자 편에 섰다. 가시와기 기엔은 그리스도의 사제를 넘어, 한국의 이해자를 넘어, 인간을 위한 평등의 구현과 행동하는 자유자의자였다. 나아가 평생 평화를 희구한 대 사상가로 보는 것이 더욱 타당하리라 믿는다.
Abstract
Kashiwagi Gien is being illuminated fresh as a Japanese thinker before the defeat. In this paper, I will try to find out the relationship between Kashiwagi Gien and Korea. Kashiwagi Gien claimed tight tensions between the state and religion before and after the Korea-Japan merger. He was a progressive thinker based on liberalism based on thorough faith than the evangelists. Kashiwagi Gien expresses Korea of the time when it fell to the colonies as ‘Korea country’, but this is the same position as Japan and looks into the future. At the same time, this shows the truth of the demarcation. Interest in the Korean problem was the central axis that supported his sharp idea thoroughly criticizing imperialism. 3. 1 Independent Movement and during the 1923 Kanto Earthquake (sometimes), criticizing the Japanese government and the ignorant Japanese with a keen perspective on the Korean massacre issue. Kashiwagi should continue to be memorized as a desirable form of bridging between Japan and Korea. Regarding social incidents in Japan as well, he always made a voice of justice and stood by the weak. Kashiwagi Gien was a liberalist who beyond the priests of Christ, acting beyond the understanding of Korea and acting equally for human beings. I believe it would be more appropriate to view him as a great thinker who wanted for peace.
