르페브르의 변증법적 공간 이론과 공간정치― 「공간의 생산」을 중심으로

이 논문의 목적은 르페브르 공간생산론의 고유한 논의 지형을 제시하고, 그 실천적 함의를 밝히는 데 있다. 르페브르는『공간의 생산』에서 헤겔, 맑스의 생산 개념과 니체, 하이데거의 공간적 관점을 통합한다. 이종적인 이론적 자원을 종합하고 대안적 공간 기획의 기초를 제공하는 기초는 변증법이다. 르페브르의 변증법은 기본적으로 헤겔-맑스의 고전적인 해방기획과 연관되며, 공간의 우선성과 고유성을 강조하는 포스트모던적 주장을 포괄한다. 르페브르는 시․공간의 총체적 인식과 인간적 자연의 재창조를 주장하면서, 자본주의적 추상공간의 대안으로서 차이공간의 도래를 전망한다. 차이공간은 공간의 모순과 소유 논리에 저항하는 공간정치를 통해 실현될 수 있다. 르페브르에 따르면 저항적 가능성을 지원하는 힘의 원천이자, 아래로부터의 공간적 요구를 투쟁으로 결집하는 중심은 몸과 도시이다. 변증법적 가능성주의에 기반한 르페브르의 공간론은 그 현실성에 대한 물음들과 끊임없이 대결해 나갈 수밖에 없다. 그럼에도, 공간생산론은 오늘날 도시 비관주의와 도시 편향의 극복을 위한 의미있는 이론적 자원이다. 특히 몸과 도시사회의 관계 연구와 함께 다양한 해방기획과의 접합을 고민하는 것은 비판적 공간론에 남겨진 중요한 과제이다.
Abstract
This paper deals with Lefebvre's The Production of Space. The main purpose of this study is to examine the philosophical context and framework of Lefebvre's theory of space and to grasp the practical implication of it. In The Production of Space, Lefebvre connects two concepts, the space and the production. This connection comes from the synthesis of thoughts of Hegel, Marx, Nietzsche and Heidegger. From Hegel's metaphysical insight of relationship of production and contradiction, Marx takes a step to discover the capitalist mode of the production in social dimension. At this point, Lefebvre refers to the spatial perspective of the thought of Nietzsche and Heidegger complements the notion of production of Hegel and Marx beyond its temporal framework. And through, this he progresses to establish his own theory of space. The aim of Lefebvre's theory of space is struggling against the capitalist domination of space and we are able to understand this theory as a strategic hypothesis. The dialectic is at the core of it. Lefebvre's dialectic intergrates the idea of traditional emancipation project and the postmodern insights of Nietzsche and Heidegger. Based on dialectic of emancipation, Lefebvre predicts that the revolution of spatial dimension would occur and the differential space would achieve a triumph against the abstract space of global capitalism. Although his optimistic prospect is problematic, I think Lefebvre is discoverer of the radical politics of space and his discovery is significant contribution to step toward to new social movement. That is the practical implication what Lefebvre's theory means. The radicalness of it arises from the body and the urban society. The body is the semipermanent fountainhead of the possibilities of emancipation which the urban society produces. Today, amid the weakening of the social and civic dynamics, the inquiry into the relationship of the body and the urban society is a meaningful way to support the urban social movement and the politics of space.
