Abstract
This study was carried out to develop regional taper equation and stem volume table forCryptomeria japonica stands in Jeju Island, South Korea. A total of 20 sample trees wereselected for stem analysis. This study used Kozak’s model estimation. The stem taper equationwas evaluated using four fitting statistical criteria: Fit Index (FI), Root Mean Square Error(RMSE), Bias ( ), and Absolute Mean Difference (AMD). The results of the model evaluationshowed that the taper equation provided the FI at 0.99. The mean bias and absolute meandifference 0.008 and 0.832 cm, respectively. The stem volume table developed for Cryptomeriajaponica in Jeju region will be very useful in managing in Jeju forests.
