Abstract
The effect of exposed length of M.9 and M.26 dwarf rootstocks on growth and yield wastested in ‘Summer King’ new apple cultivar. The test trees were planted that the exposed lengthof each M.9 and M.26 to be 5, 10 and 15 cm. The shoot length of each M.9 and M.26 5 cmexposure length were 12.6 and 5.5 cm longer than that of 10 cm exposure length, and 11.4 and8.2 cm longer than that of 15 cm exposure length, respectively. TCA of 10, 15 cm exposurelength showed 58, 61% in M.9, and 75, 61% in M.26 of the TCA with 5 cm exposure lengthon 4 year old trees. The vegetative growth such as tree height, shoot length and TCA werealso increased according to decreased exposure length. Especially, the 5 cm exposure length ofM.9 and M.26 seems to strengthen the tree vigor of ‘Summer King’. On the other hand, thecumulative yield of M.9 and M.26 were higher in the tree with a longer exposure length. Thecumulative yield of 5, 10, 15 cm were 0.58, 0.91, 0.99 in M.9 and 0.51, 0.61, 0.68 in M.26. Considering tree growth and yield, the optimum exposure length of M.9 and M.26 were 10 cmfor ‘Summer King’.
