Abstract
In 2000, to identify in vegetation structure and species diversity by type of restoration in the Samcheock forest fire area, a surveyand classification were conducted on permanent survey sites divided 2 types of restorations. As a result of analysis through TWINSPANand DCA survey for 26 studied plots, they were classified into 3 groups, Pinus densiflora community (Cluster I), Quercus mongolicacommunity (Cluster II) and Quercus variabilis community (Cluster III). As a result of the analysis of relative dominance values foreach cluster, Cluster I is expected to be transitioned as a mixed forest, Cluster II is expected to maintain the Quercus mongolica forestand Cluster III is expected to maintain the Quercus variabilis forest. The similarity index between clusters was 49.46% to 70.69%,and the species diversity index was 1.5441 to 1.7924. The growth between the artificial and natural restoration areas (except for thestanding tree) was almost similar, but in the case of the Quercus variabilis, it was confirmed that the height grows well in naturalrestoration and the diameter grows well in artificial restoration. Since there is no significant difference in growth between natural restorationand artificial restoration, it would be desirable to set an appropriate restoration direction for the target site among natural restorationthrough competition between seed regeneration and germ regeneration and artificial restoration through continuous management.
