Abstract

It is said that Japan still has many hereditary traditions in various fields. This can be confirmed throughout Japanese society. Many of them have something to do with samurai. In the Edo period, the shogunate and domain guaranteed the honor of samurai's land and family forever through a system of employment that transcended generations. It can be said that this created a tradition in which samurai status was inherited. This tradition of hereditary succession also leads to the seniority of companies and the lifetime employment system. What was learned and shared by the ruling class leading the society was accepted by the common class, and some of them became behavioral and cultural customs of the people of that country. Korea's high enthusiasm for education is largely attributed to the Confucian tradition of highly evaluating people with knowledge and personality. At its foundation, it is largely due to the history and culture that have longed for Seonbi, a flawless personality that embodies Confucianism. The tea ceremony, which was a status symbol of warlords in the Sengoku period, was established as an educational etiquette for merchants in modern times and women in modern times, and is still handed down as a traditional culture representing Japan. Occupations that play an important role in human life are one of them. In the Edo period, it is easy to think that there was no freedom to choose a job in a society fixed with samurai, agriculture, industry and commerce. However, except for court nobles and daimyo, they were able to choose their occupations quite freely depending on their own efforts. Moreover, there were quite a few people who had side jobs. Apart from specialists, there were samurai and farmers who worked hard on manufacturing as a side job. Japan is a country where there are many long-lived enterprises rarely seen in the world, and there are many craftsmen who are confident in their skills and stubborn but have an honest professional mind about their work. The professionalism of craftsmen is called craftsmanship. Craftsmanship is one of the key words to understand Japan. Skillful technology is accomplished by succession from generation to generation. He is stubborn and unyielding, strict with himself and others, has a strong sense of responsibility, and has the same professionalism as samurai. It is well known that low-ranking samurai had side jobs. An expression of a strong sense of pride and professionalism inherent in a person who has excellent professional skills and makes things by hand. Similar expressions include "artisan spirit," and "craftsmanship." In this study, we examine the correlation between samurai who were forced to work part-time and craftsmanship. This is to find out how the Edo bakufu's principle of banning career choice was actually changed.
