Abstract

This has been written to try to find how to search for and use cultural resources related to a person. Su-Eun, Gang Hang(姜沆) was from Yeonggwang(靈光) in Jeollado. He entered government service through the state examination during the limjin war, and experienced his hard time because of being captured by the Japanese military as a government official in Chosun Period during the jungyu war. After getting out of prison, he had been secluded living in his hometown, Yeonggwang when he died. In the meantime, he had written many books. First, 『Gun-Gu-Rok』 has became an object of attention because it has the information of Japan in the end of the 16th-the beginning of the 17th century and Su-Eun’s experiences of being captured. Especially, it is noted for the defensive system of Sunjo(宣祖) in Chosun Period. In other words, it includes establishment of the naval forces camp for the security, building ships, training the naval forces, honoring distinguished military service, the pay of the frontier-commanders, the land and salt and fish of the islands region and the like. Second, 『Un-Je-Rok』 and 『Su-Eun-Jib』 were written in Youbong(酉峯) and Unje(雲堤) village in Keumkyeli(金鷄里) in Yeonggwang where Su-Eun spent most of his life. If the whole regional history of Yeonggwang is linked to place names, personal connections, cases, anecdotes, and the like be founded in them, the development of the contents will be possible. Third, 『Limjin-Susung-Rok』 is the material related to the war and should not be missed in the study of Su-Eun’s lifetime history and the regional history of Yeonggwang. Confucian scholars in Yeonggwang region organized a regional group among themselves to defend their region in the emergency of a real war and special situation of local officials’ absence. It is evaluated that concrete examples of defending the rural area in Yeonggwang region in the limjin war can be suggested and the history of the army raised in the cause of justice at that time can be reconstructed by those who participated in the group in those days, their activities, its administrative organization, its defensive system, and the like.
