본 연구는 고등학생의 그릿과 우울의 관계에서 사회적 위축과 학업무기력의 매개효과를 분석하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구대상은 한국청소년정책연구원의 한국아동·청소년패널조사(Korean Child Youth Panel Survey: KCYPS 2018) 중학교 1학년 패널의 5차년도 자료(2022년)를 통해 수집된 1,808명이다. 자료분석은 SPSS 26.0 프로그램과 SPSS Process Macro 4.2(model 6)를 사용하였으며 부트스트래핑을 통해 매개효과의 유의성을 검증하였다. 주요결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 고등학생의 그릿은 우울에 직접적인 부적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 고등학생의 그릿과 우울의 관계에서 사회적 위축은 유의한 매개효과가 나타났다. 셋째, 고등학생의 그릿과 우울의 관계에서 학업무기력은 유의한 매개효과가 나타났다. 넷째, 고등학생의 그릿과 우울의 관계에서 사회적 위축과 학업무기력은 직렬매개효과가 확인되었다. 본 결과는 고등학생의 그릿이 우울에 직접적인 영향을 미칠 뿐 아니라 사회적 위축과 학업무기력을 통해서도 간접적인 영향을 미치는 경로를 규명했다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.
Abstract
This study examined both the direct effect of grit on depression and the indirect effects mediated by social withdrawal and academic helplessness among high school students. Data were drawn from the 5th wave(2022) of the ‘Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) 2018’, including 1,808 second-year high school students. Analyses were conducted using the Process Macro for SPSS to test the sequential mediation effects. The results are as follows: First, grit had a significant direct effect on depression of high school students. Second, grit indirectly affected depression by mediating social withdrawal and academic helplessness, leading to sequential mediation effects on social withdrawal and academic helplessness. These findings highlight the importance of grit as a key protective factor against depression, both through its direct and indirect effects via pathways involving social withdrawal and academic helplessness. The results suggest that internal factors such as grit play a vital role in adolescent depression and emphasize the importance of an integrated approach that considers grit, social withdrawal and academic helplessness in intervention and prevention strategies for depression.
