초록

Background : The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors related to risk perception of emerging infectious diseases (EID) in emergency room (ED) nurses. Methods : The study participants were 170 ED nurses with experience in nursing suspected or confirmed patients of emerging infectious diseases. Data were collected using an online questionnaire from September 14 to 30, 2022. The data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS 19.0 program. Results : Factors related to the risk perception of EID were critical thinking tendency (β=.30, p<.001), organizational culture of infection control (β=.17, p=.002), ED work experience (β=.49, p<.001), PPE education (β=-.43, p<.001), existence of isolation rooms within the ED department (β=.39, p<.001), and age (β=.34, p<.001). These factors explained 58.4% of their risk perception of emerging infectious diseases. Conclusion : Education that considers age and experience is required to increase risk perception of EID among ED nurses. Moreover, it is necessary to improve hospital quarantine facilities and develop a positive organizational culture and critival thinking desposition to facilitate infection control.
