Listeria monocytogenes는 사람에게 위장관염에서부터 뇌막염, 수막염, 패혈증의 침습적 감염까지 다양한 감염을 일으킨다. 이 균종은 노령층 또는 이식수술, 림프종, AIDS 등의 세포매개성 면역기능이 저하된 선행질환을 갖고 있는 환자에서 감염 가능성이 높다. L. monocytogenes는 중추신경계 친화성이 높아 심각한 감염을 유발하며 높은 사망률을 보인다. 저자 등은 말기신부전증이 있던 58세 여자환자에서 발생한 L. monocytogenes 뇌막염 1예를 보고하는 바이며 환자는 항생제 치료 후 합병증없이 퇴원하였다.
Abstract
Listeria monocytogenesis the causative agent in a spectrum of human disease ranging from gastroenteritis to invasive infections such as meningitis, encephalitis, and septicemia. Elderly patients or persons who have lower cell-mediated immunity with predisposing conditions such as transplants, lymphomas, and AIDS, are especially susceptible. The tropism of L. monocytogenes for the central nervous system leads to severe disease, often with high mortality. We report a case of L. monocytogenes meningitis in a 58-year old woman with end stage renal disease. The patient was discharged without neurological sequelae after antibiotic treatment.
