Abstract

This study verified the effects of dance program on a change in climacteric women's climacteric syndrome. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to present the empirically basic data on the applicability of dance as a program of managing climacteric syndrome. The research subjects of this study were selected targeting 8 voluntary participants among climacteric women. And, the experimental treatment program was used the dance program based on movement in korean dance. This program was carried out for 120 minutes every time as a program with 35 sessions during the totally 10 weeks. In a bid to examine a change in climacteric syndrome, the climacteric symptoms before and after participation in dance program, depression, bone mineral content(BMC), total cholesterol(TC), and triglyceride(TG) were measured. In terms of measurement tools, the climacteric and depression syndrome level was measured by using Neungaten's The Menopausal Symptom Scale and Beck's Depression Inventory(BDI). The bone mineral content was measured by scanning the bone mineral content in the lumbar, through HITACHI WCT-225-130(PRONTO)/Japan. And, the density in TC and TG was measured through auto-analyzer Olympus AU-400, Reply. All the measured materials were analyzed by applying t-test aiming to examine the verification of difference in periods pre and post treatment. The analyzed results are as follows. The inventory in climacteric syndrome statistically reduced significantly to 26.634.534 marks after participating in dance program from 31.135.222 marks before participating in dance program (p<.001). Beck's Depression Inventory(BDI) statistically reduced significantly to 9.757.285 marks after participating in dance program from 14.137.220 marks before participating in dance program (p<.01). BMC relatively swelled to 153.2932.041mg/cc after participating in dance program from 143.5627.135mg/.cc before participating in dance program, but had no statistically significant difference. TC had no statistically significant difference, ranging from 208.4321.423mg/.cc before participating in dance program to 221.7124.5mg/cc after participating in dance program. TG dropped to 90.1389.595mg/cc after participating in dance program from 123.3881.834mg/cc before participating in dance program, but had no statistically significant difference. Given trying to synthesize the research results in the above, it can be confirmed that climacteric women's participation in dance program with 35 sessions for 10 weeks alleviated a sense of discomfort due to climacteric syndrome, was conducive to relieving depression, and had a positive effect on prevention and treatment in osteoporosis and hyperlipemia. Consequently, aiming to be introduced dance program as the Nursing Intervention Program for managing climacteric women's climacteric syndrome, a diversified research can be said to be required for developing dance program in line with climacteric women's psychological and physical characters. Also, rather than carrying out the exclusive dance program, compositively going side by side with dietetic therapy, which controlled nourishment, will be a help in maximizing its effect. And, in a bid to obtain the more definite and specific research results, it will need to be conducted a repetitive research that re-verifies an effect on the research variables included in this study, by allowing exercise intensity, frequency and period to be different.
