초록
Of knitting structures and knitting techniques, intarsia structures are thin, lightweight, and have distinct patterns. Intarsia structures are the most efficient structures for coloring patterns and they give effects that appear like actual stamping and as they have clear designs and thin knitting, they are the most preferred structure following the weight lightening trends of fashion products. Of knitwear knitting techniques, intarsia structures can be an alternative that satisfies consumer needs which are demanding weight lightening, gentrification, and individualization. At this, the purpose of this study is to provide base material that can be used in the development of high value knitwear in the future by establishing a theory on intarsia knitting through development research on intarsia knit structures, deducing properties of intarsia structures by comparing and analyzing intarsia knitting with other color jacquards, and providing data through actual development cases of intarsia structures suited to knitwear designs. The research method was to conduct a literature review through previous studies and literary data on intarsia structures and to deduce the characteristics of intarsia structures by collecting practical data through actual interviews with program specialists at a production site with intarsia knitting machine. It attempts to present the direction in which added value knitwear should be designed through actual development research conducted with intarsia structures on knitting machines. Through this study, results on the characteristics of intarsia structures were deduced to be as follows. First, it is lightweight as it weighs less than all other color jacquards. Second, the colors are more distinct than other color jacquards. Third, knitting performance is less than that of other color jacquards because there is difficulty in the knitting. Fourth, productivity is less because knitting time takes longer than other color jacquards. Fifth, with practicality, there is a drawback in that the yarns at the seams of the coloring on the back must be knotted. Sixth, with economic feasibility, because it is lightweight, less yarn is needed and production costs can be reduced allowing it to be economically feasible.
