Abstract

This study is to suggest detailed, empirical data which is used during the practical design planning process, and to propose a direction for the development of knit design through the comparison of knitwear design planning and a woven design planning process. Through the proposal of the knitwear design planning process used in actual work, the study is to help an understanding of a woven design planning process and a knitwear design planning process, and to offer basic data in designing and developing high value added knitwear design by looking into the knitwear design planning case of an existing Korean brand. For research methods, the study conducted a reference review using relevant existing studies on knit design and data on the website, and summarized and proposed the planning data of design developed by the researcher through actual work in the field. The conclusion obtained from empirical research into knitwear design planning is that it is possible to develop diverse knitwear designs unlike the manufacturing of woven apparel only when it is prepared with an understanding of yarn materials, a technical understanding of textile knitting, and creative sensibility.
