현상적 투명성을 응용한 바디아트 연구

Abstract

If it can be said that the transparency of modern architecture simultaneously displays the double perspectives of the form of a substance or existence through spatial expression interpreted by various kinds of material and angles, then the expression of skin in body art can find its meaning in ‘transparency’ in that it makes interpretations with a double perspective which makes the boundaries between reality and the ideal vague through the body. For this, I tried to make and express transparent meaning, which appears by painting the body or by using and overlapping various objet, into a Body Art piece. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to present various design methods in body art, which is a part of the formative arts, and to inquire whether body art really shares the same context with the formative arts by deducting the features and significance of transparency, which is being expressed in all fields of modern art. Such a study can be used as ground material based on substantial research for researchers studying body art and further, this can promote the expansion of various viewpoints and understandings regarding body art, and it can contribute to broadening the scope of artistic expression. The results of this study involve the following. Phenomenal transparency shown in body art was classified into ‘transparency shown in the overlapping of colors’, ‘transparency shown in the overlapping of objects’, and ‘transparency shown in the ambiguity of a border’ as psychological phenomena. Based on these results, the study took them as being the characteristics of a theme in creating body artworks.
