Abstract

Background Social robots, whose primary purpose is to interact with humans and social functions, are the main research subjects on human likeness. We tried to figure out the human likeness of robots based on the personality image, one of the characteristics of humans to derive more advanced characteristics in the design and interaction design of social robots. Methods We conducted an online survey on 108 people, and the survey results were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. We analyze data using frequency analysis, factor analysis, ANOVA, and multiple linear regression analysis. Result The robot face types are as follows; The companion role and the emotional support role were the human types. The service support role was the character type. The life support role was the human and character type, and the educational assistant role was the character type. Also, sympathetic personality images were influential in bonding relationships such as companionship, service support, and emotional support. In the case of functional-oriented relationships such as life support and education assistance, the extroverted personality image had an influence. Conclusion As a result, there were differences in the expected face design, personality, and emotional image according to the social robots' role. There were differences in the relationship between the bonded relationship and the function-oriented relationship.
