초록

To investigate the seroprevalence of Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) and porcine parvovirus (PPV) in pigs in Busan, Korea, 439 blood samples were collected from nine pig farms from January to November 2024. The overall seroprevalence of JEV was 15.4%, indicating very low vaccination coverage. JEV seroprevalence varied considerably by season and region, with higher sero-positive rates observed in breeding sows (39.3%) compared to non-breeding pigs (11.6%) and peaked in autumn (34.7%). In contrast, the overall seroprevalence of PPV was 98.6%, indicating very high vaccination coverage. PPV seroprevalence was consistently high across all groups and seasons, reflecting the frequent vaccination in breeding sows, with 100% of seropositivity in sows. The differences in JEV seroprevalence at regional and farm-level demonstrate the need for more intensified vaccination campaigns against JEV. This study highlights the importance of enhanced vaccination strategies, regular disease monitoring, and environmental management to mitigate the risks of JEV and PPV outbreaks, ensuring public health safety and minimizing economic losses in pig farming.
