Methods: This was a secondary data analysis using a cross-sectional study design that utilized the data of 2,657 elderlywomen living alone in South Korea. Cognitive function and cognitive decline were assessed using the Korean versionof the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). Binomial logistic regression analysis was used to estimate the odds ratios(OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for cognitive impairment. Results: Several factors were observed to affectcognitive decline among elderly South Korean women living alone, including age, education level, region, subjectivehealth status, and activities of daily living (ADL). Conclusion: These results highlight the need for a comprehensiveapproach to enhancing the cognitive health of elderly women living alone. Cognitive decline screening is particularlynecessary for women aged≥65 years residing in rural areas. Interventions should incorporate support for subjectivehealth status and ADL to promote cognitive well-being.
