Abstract
Hydrological observations were carried out in a first order drainage basin of Oedo River to examine stream ccharacteristics in Jeju Islend. The experimental basin is underlain by trachybasalt, and is located in the sub alpine grassland(1,600m asl)around Manseedongsan of Mt.Halla. The rainfall event over a specifis intensity and accumulated amount of precipitation shows a typical flash runoff which is characterized by a rapid occurence and decrease of a peak discharge. By contrast, the rainfall event with a low intensity and accumlated amount of precipitation shows no runoff or a show runoff that has a under peak discharge. the quick flow such as Hortonian overland flow and saturation overland flow is responsible for the runoff response in the experimental basin.
