지형 측량 및 표면 퇴적물의 입도 분석 자료를 통하여 법성만 갯벌의 지형과 퇴적물 특성을 밝혔다. 상부 조간대 갯벌은 평탄한 표면과 깊고 가파른 갯골이 특징이고, 중부 조간대 갯벌은 갯골의 깊이가 얕아지고 사행면 퇴적물의 입도 특성은 내만에서 만구 쪽으로 갈수록 평균 입경이 커지고 분급이 좋아지며, positive skewness에서 negative skewness로 바뀌어 진다. 파랑이 잔잔한 여름에 하부 조간대에는 엷은 뻘층이 쌓이지만 파랑이 거친겨울에는 모두 침식된다. 법성만 갯벌은 내만에서 만구 쪽으로 가면서 염생 습지, 뻘 갯벌, 혼합 갯벌, 모래 갯벌
Abstract
Topographical and depositional characteristics of Bupseong-Bay tidal flats were clarified using the data ofterrain measurements and grain size analyses. The tidal flat land forms of upper tidal zone have flat top with steep anddeep tidal channel valleys. But, those of middle tidal zone have gentle slope surface with shallow and meandering tidalchannels. On the tidal flats of lower tidal zone, there are many ripple marks instead of tidal channels. The closer to baymouth from inner bay ; the coarser mean grain size the surface deposits, the better sorting. The skewness changes frompositive to negative along with the direction. In summer when the wave energy are low, shallow mud layer are depositedon the lower tidal zone, but, in winter when the wave energy are high, the mud layer are eroded gradually. The tidal flatsof Bupseong-Bay are classified with salt marsh, mud flat, mixed flat and sand flat from inner bay to bay mouth.
