합천 대병고원의 하천쟁탈에 관한 연구

경상남도 합천군 대병면에 위치한 대병고원에서는 하천쟁탈의 결과로 여겨지는 경사변환점과 곡중분수계 가 나타난다. 하천쟁탈은 일반적 지형발달과는 달리 elbow of capture, 경사변환점, 풍극, 구하도, 하상퇴적물과 같은 지형학적 흔적을 남긴다. 본 연구에서는 지형학적 증거가 명백하고, 비교적 최근에 발생된 것으로 여겨지는 허 굴산 북쪽 곡중분수계의 형성과정과 하천쟁탈의 가능성을 확인하였다. 허굴산 북쪽의 곡중분수계에서는 길이 650m, 폭 100m 규모의 계곡이 존재한다. 이 계곡의 가장자리 노두에서 상향세립 현상을 보이는 하천퇴적층과 대 자율 측정 결과 과거 금성천 상류의 기반암에서 기원된 것으로 보이는 자철석 집적층이 발견되었다. 또한 쟁탈 하천 과 지질구조선의 관계, 기반암이 노출된 하상의 형태 등을 보았을 때 곡중분수계가 형성된 계곡은 하천쟁탈의 결과 만들어진 풍극으로 판단된다.
Abstract
Knick point and divide in valley, which seems to be the outcome of river capture are found inDaebyeong Highland, located in Hapcheon, Gyeongsangnam-Do. River captures left the geomorphologicalevidences such as the elbow of capture, wind gap, abandoned channel, and alluvial deposits. This study foundthe possibility of the formation of divide in valley and the process of river capture in the north of Mt.Heogulsan. There is a valley bottom with the dimension of 650 meters long and 100 meters wide. Within thevalley side outcrops, alluvial deposits with fining upward sequences and magnetite-rich deposits originated fromground rocks within Geumseongcheon River bottom have been found. Possible evidences of river capture andformation of wind gap include the close relationship between stream capture and structural line, and riverbottom stripped of alluvial deposits.
