기독교 생명윤리에 관한 윤리적 판단의 원리

의학과 과학기술의 급진적인 발전에 따라 인간의 생명에 대한 기술적인 취급의 가능성이 크게 확대된 현대사회는 인간 생명의 전 과정, 즉 탄생에서 죽음에 이르기까지 모든 단계에 걸쳐 기존에는 경험해 보지 못했던 다양한 윤리문제에 직면하게 되었다. 여기서 중요한 사실은 생명문제에 관한 윤리적 판단에서는 필연적으로 생명 그 자체에 관한 이해를 전제로 하며 생명윤리의 진리 문제는 결국 생명에 대한 신학의 진리문제로 귀결된다는 사실이다. 그렇다면 기독교 신학과 윤리는 ‘생명과 인간의 삶’을 어떻게 파악하고 이해하고 있는가? 그리고 현대사회에서 매우 중대하며 회피할 수 없는 생명과학 기술의 진보와 그로인해 파생되는 윤리적 판단의 문제에 대해 기독교윤리는 어떻게 관여해 갈 수 있는가? 본 연구는 이와 같은 물음에 기초하여 기독교적 생명이해와 그를 토대로 생명윤리의 기본문제에 접근하는 기독교 윤리적 접근 방법과 그 원리에 대하여 논의하였다. 기독교적 생명윤리에 있어서 윤리적 판단의 독자적인 원리는 ‘생명의 주’ 라는 개념(사도행전 3장 15절) 속에 제시되어있다. 하나님은 ‘생명의 주’ 이시며 또한 창조자, 구원자, 완성자이시다. 하나님은 그의 아들 예수 그리스도의 십자상의 죽음 사건을 통해 죽음을 삼위일체의 자신 속으로 받아들이고, 그리스도의 부활을 통하여 그리스도로 하여금 생명의 창조적인 힘으로 죽음을 극복하였다. 이렇듯 하나님은 생명을 구원하고 또한 완성하신다. 즉 하나님은 ‘생명의 주’ 이자 생명의 창조자, 구원자, 완성자로서 ‘삶을 사랑하는 본성’(bio-philas)을 지니신 분이시다. 그러므로 기독교 생명윤리는 이에 근거하여 ‘생명을 사랑’(biophilia)하는 윤리여야 한다. 달리 말하면 생명에 관하여 윤리적 판단에 관한 물음이 발생할 때 판단과 그에 따른 행위의 원리는 ‘생명사랑’에 근거해 있어야 한다. 그리고 이러한 논의의 확장으로서 교회는 예수 그리스도와 함께 더불어 살아가는 공동체로서 ‘생명을 사랑하는 힘’(bio-philas)이 작동되는 장(場)이 되어야 하며, 또한 사회가 ‘생명사랑’(biophilia)으로 충만한 사회가 되도록 우리는 봉사해야 한다.
Abstract
With rapid development of medical science and scientific technology, the modern society has an enlarged possibility of dealing with human life in only technological perspectives. Thus, the modern society faces various unprecedented ethical problems in all the processes of human life from birth to death. What is important here is the facts that ethical judgement on the issue of life needs understanding of life itself as precondition of it, and that the problem of truth of life ethics leads to the problem of truth of theology. Then, how do Christian theology and ethics grasp and understand life and human life? And, how can Christian ethics intervene in the problems of development of bio-technology which is very important and inevitable in modern society and of ethical judgement derived from it? This study, based on such questions, examined Christian ethical approaches and principles dealing with basic problems of life ethics. The original principle of ethical judgement about Christian bioethics is suggested in the concept of ‘author of life’ in the Bible (Acts 3:15). God is the ‘author of life’, savor, and completer of life. Through the death of Jesus Christ, son of God, on the cross, God received death in Himself as Trinity, and God led Jesus through the Resurrection to overcome death. As such, God saves life and completes it. That is, God is the God of bio-philas as ‘author of life’, creator, savor, and completer of life. Therefore, Christian bioethics should be the ethics of biophilia. In other words, whenever questions on ethical judgement on life emerge, the principle of action should be biophilia. And, as extension of such a discussion, the church should be the place where power to love life, namely bio-philas work as a community where people live with Jesus Christ. And, we should serve the society to make it full of biophilia.
