하나님의 건물을 지으면서 하나님의 말씀을 울려 퍼지게 하려던 종교적 기능의 수행, 실제 건축물의 음향적 조건과 결부된 실험 및 환경이 악곡의 구성과 편성에 작용한 경우, 음악 외적 공간 및 현상을 음향으로 묘사하는 작업, 현실세계와 비현실세계에 대한 상징적 공간의 표현 등 음악사에서 음악과 공간과의 관계, 음악에서의 ‘공간성’의 의미는 다양하게 발견 된다. 20세기에 들어서 이전의 ‘공간성’이 소위 말하는 절대적 차원에서 인과적으로 흘러가는 전개인 ‘시간성’의 개념과 함께 더 이상 지속될 수 없게 된 이유 중 가장 큰 것은 ‘시공간’(時空間)이라는 개념의 형성이라 할 수 있다. ‘상대성 이론’에서 언급되는 이 개념의 적용은 자연과학 뿐 만 아니라 예술 전반, 즉 음악에서도 근대적 공간 및 시간 개념의 탈피를 보여주며 탈역사적, 탈인과적, 탈근대적 차원의 다양한 구성으로 나타난다. 본 주제는 20세기 이후 음악작품들에서 ‘공간성’의 의미가 어떻게 구현되고 있는지 구체적인 예를 들어 제시하고자 한다.
Abstract
The meaning of ‘space’ in music has been discovered as the performances of religious function in spreading God’s words with the construction of God’s building, the cases of effect in musical composition and form from experiments and environments with the sound condition in building, the works of portraying nonmusical space and phenomenon as the sound, and relationships between space and music within music history about expression of symbolic space in the world of reality and non-reality. There are reasons that idea for previous ‘space’ in Twentieth century could not coexist with the concept of flowing ‘time’ as ‘cause and effect’ in absolute dimension. The main reason is the formation of concept of ‘time-space’. The application of this concept which came from the ‘theory of relativity’ shows in various structure of posthistorical and postmodern dimension with breaking from the concept for modern space and time in the general art and the music as well as the science. This topic theme suggests the concrete examples for that how the meaning of ‘space’ realizes in pieces of music since Twentieth century.
