性 政治로 본 상사뱀 설화 -여성형 상사뱀 설화를 중심으로-

이 논문은 ‘여성형’ 상사뱀 설화를 대상으로 섹슈얼리티의 위계화 방식과 성 정치의 맥락을 파악하고자 기획되었다. 이를 위해 먼저, 상사뱀이 되는 여성이 겪는 ‘상사뱀 되기’의 양상과 의미를 살펴보고, 상대 남성의 범주에 따라 ‘상사뱀 만들기’가 어떤 중층적 위계를 형성하는지 알아보았다. 상사뱀 설화는 사랑이 경험되고 표현되는 구체적 현장인 몸(신체)에 일어나는 구체적 권력 관계를 다룬다. 좀더 정확하게 말하자면 사랑을 불가능하게 하는 사회 구조와 권력의 위계 문제를 다룬다고 하겠다. ‘여성형’ 상사뱀 설화는 사적․개별적 감정인 사랑의 영역에 권력이 어떻게 개입하고, 권력 관계에서 배제되는 대상을 어떻게 타자화하는지 잘 보여주는 텍스트다. 여성이 경험하는 ‘상사뱀 되기’는 신분이나 계층과 무관하게 자신의 목소리를 거세당하여 스스로의 욕망을 드러낼 수 없는 여성의 모습을 보여준다. 주체적 욕망이 허락되지 않던 여성은 상사뱀으로 몸을 바꾸어 탈주의 가능성을 보여주지만 상사뱀이 되어서도 인간(여성)의 규범에서 벗어나지 못하는 한계를 노출한다. 또한 여성 상사뱀 설화의 남성 인물은 가부장적 사회질서와 국가권력의 대변자이거나 권력의 위계 속에서 타자화되는 존재로 드러난다.
Abstract
This paper was planned to identify that the sexuality is hierarchical and the sexual politics is reveals in the female type sangsa snake tales. For this end, I looked at the aspects and meaning that women become sangsa-snake and checked the complicated hierarchy that the male characters in the female type sangsa-snake tales organize. Sangsa snake tales deal with the specific power relations about the body that actually do love. More precisely, it deals with the social structure and hierarchy of authority that make impossible to love. The female type sangsa-snake tales show the way how the power intervene in the private and individual area, and it make the person who is excluded from the power a stranger. The aspects that women become a sangsa-snake represent the appearance of women that are neutralized their voice and are not allowed to reveal their own desire regardless of the status and hierarchy. Women who were not allowed to reveal their own desire show the possibility of a runaway by being a snake in the female type sangsa-snake tales. But they still exposure the limits that do not stray from the norm. In addition, the male characters in the female type sangsa-snake tales make themselves the strangers who are neglected in the patriarchal social order and state authority in the hierarchy.
