In Korean, the psychological situation where an experiencer is affected by stimulus is also expressed in a transitive construction, and the emotional situation, which is a subcategory of psychological situations, is expressed with the multiple nominative construction as well. Psychological situations indicate low transitivity because of ambiguous affectedness between participants (Hopper and Thompson 1980), and share the properties of low degree of elaboration of situation like the middle voice (Kemmer 1993). In the alignment system related with case marking, many languages have a split intransitive according to activity of verbs. In Korean, the second argument of the transitive construction is marked the same as the first argument in such cases. In expressing emotions, the two arguments are represented in the multiple nominative construction through the conceptual blending, where the stimulus is internalized as a mental reality to the experiencer.
