This paper examines the temporal interpretation of Korean relative clauseswhich are realized with the expression -nu, and their incompatibility withstative predicates. I analyze -nu as a kind of stativizing operator whichlexically encodes the imperfective meaning. I account for the distributionalrestriction and the temporal interpretation in terms of the semantic function of-nu and independently motivated discourse principle about the reference timeupdate.
