초록
This work examines so-called multiple nominative constructions (MNCs) in Korean. In MNCs, a unique argument nominative NP co-occurs with two or more non-thematic ‘surface’ nominatives. Evidence is provided which shows that these non-thematic nominatives are not of equal status: some are multiple ‘subject’ constructions which are licensed by the usual mechanism for a subject and a predicate, some are (multiple) topic-subject constructions, which express a topic-comment structure. A heterogeneous analysis, couched in a phrase-structural grammar seting, is proposed to account for the different properties of the two kinds of MNCs.
