Abstract
To evaluate feasibility and operational behavior of Solar driven NH3/H2O absorption chiller(SDAC), remodeling and a performance test are carried out. The SDAC was converted from an existing NH3/H2O Gas fired absorption chiller(GAC). The system was only retrofitted in generator, therefore remodeling was restricted by space. As the test results, the system operated with typical mixture's sub-cooled pool boiling character. It means; the geometry of generator and interior heat exchanger coil had to change for continual/stable operation. The maximum COP(～0.36) at 160℃ offers the feasibility of SDAC. (typical evacuated solar collector stagnation temperature limit: 200℃)
