Abstract
In the aerospace, automotive and shipbuilding and offshore industries, a variety of manufacturing processes regaring composites are mainly used. The ability of impregnability is important to evaluate composite material because the composite manufacture is closely related with flow behavior in porous media. However, it is difficult to obtain the permeability with simple way due to complexity of the structure of the porous medium. In this study, permeability coefficient was measured by using glass wool, a non - oriented porous medium, as a preform by Resin transfer molding (RTM) method. In the measurement of the permeability coefficient, the relationship of the variables was analyzed under the conditions such as the kind of the fluid, the injection pressure, and the density of the preform. As a result, the permeability coefficient increases as the injection pressure increases and as the density of the preform decreases. This is due to the effective flow path change which is influenced with flow in porous media.
