이 연구는 한국농촌경제연구원의 귀농·귀촌인 장기추적조사 자료를 활용하여 요인분석을 통해 귀농·귀촌 동기를 유형화하고, 이론적 검토 및 선행 연구 분석을 통해 확인된 관련 변인들과의 관계를 분석하여 귀농·귀촌 동기 유형별 특성을 분석하였다. 분석결과 귀농·귀촌 동기는 은퇴·전원형, 대안가치형, 생계형, 경제형 등 네 가지로 유형화되었다. 은퇴·전원형은 상대적으로 여유가 있는 도시에서 성공한 은퇴자 계층이 자신과 가족의 건강을 위해서, 여가 생활을 위해서, 조용한 전원 생활을 위해서 귀농·귀촌한 유형으로 귀농·귀촌 준비기간이 오래고 도시 출신이거나 농촌 출신이지만 비연고지로 귀농·귀촌한 경우가 많았다. 대안가치형은 경제적 목적과 개인적인 효용을 넘어서 농촌사회의 공익적 기능과 대안적 가치를 추구하기 위해 귀농·귀촌한 유형으로 미혼의 청·장년층이 많고, 직장근로자(화이트칼라, 블루칼라) 출신이 아니고, 은퇴·전원형과 마찬가지로 준비기간이 오래고 도시 출신이거나 비연고지로 귀농·귀촌한 경우가 많았다. 생계형은 도시의 높은 생활비 때문 또는 실업이나 실직 때문에 귀농·귀촌한 유형으로 상대적으로 사회경제적 지위가 낮고 연령대가 높고 준비기간이 짧았으며, 농촌 출신이지만 비연고지 귀농·귀촌한 경우가 많았다. 경제형은 부모의 영농기반 승계 또는 농촌에서 새로운 기회를 찾기 위한 귀농·귀촌 유형으로, 가족동반으로 고향으로 귀농·귀촌한 경우가 많았고 주로 전 거주지로부터 귀농·귀촌한 장소가 멀지 않았다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify urban-rural migration motive types and their related variables. For the purpose, this study analyzed Korea Rural Economic Institute(KREI)’s urban—rural migrants survey(2016). The urban-rural migration motive types were identified using factor analysis of 10 urban-rural migration motive survey items and the related variables were investigated using multiple linear regression analysis. As a result of this study, the following conclusions were drawn. Urban-rural migration motives could be classified into four types: retirement and amenity mover, alternative life mover, subsistence mover, economic mover. Retirement and amenity movers are the relatively old retirement class that succeeded in the city who are searching for the health or leisure life in the quiet rural area. Alternative life movers are the relatively young adults and middle-aged people who pursue rural multifunctionality and alternative life rather than economic life. Subsistence movers are the lower class who came to the rural area for the high living cost or losing a job in the city. Economic movers are the group who came to the rural area for the succession of parents’ farm or for finding new opportunities in the rural areas. In addition, some suggestions for future study on urban-rural migrants’ motive were presented.
