The virtual reality (VR)-Biofeedback Motion Chair is an innovative digital medical device that integrates VR with biofeedback mechanisms to enhance the regulation of autonomic and emotional responses. Biofeedback has been widely utilized as a non-invasive therapeutic approach that enables individuals to regulate physiological responses by providing real-time feedback on autonomic nervous system activity. However, traditional biofeedback has been limited by its reliance on graph-based recordings, which can be difficult to interpret and lack immersive engagement. The integration of VR technology with biofeedback led to the development of the VR-Biofeedback Motion Chair, which enhances immersion and facilitates more intuitive physiological regulation. By synchronizing real-time physiological data with VR environments and motion-based feedback, this device offers a more engaging and effective therapeutic experience. Existing research suggests that VR-based biofeedback provides autonomic stabilization and anxiety reduction effects comparable to traditional biofeedback while significantly improving user engagement and motivation. Although studies on the VR-Biofeedback Motion Chair itself are limited, previous research on VRbased biofeedback in general supports the chair’s potential clinical applications. This review examines the principles and mechanisms of the VR-Biofeedback Motion Chair, its differences from conventional biofeedback systems, and its potential clinical applications. By enhancing user experience and therapeutic outcomes, the VR-Biofeedback Motion Chair has the potential to become a valuable tool in mental health treatment and stress management.
