초록

This study selected 16 semi-cured gel nail products from popular domestic and international brands based on consumer preference, analyzed their characteristics and dimensions, and evaluated their suitability for the nail sizes of Korean women. Based on previous research, six measurement items—including width, height, and thickness—were directly measured. The analysis showed that size 5 was the most common among domestic products (17.6%), followed by sizes 3 and 4. For international products, sizes 4 (17.6%) and 6 (15.3%) were most frequent, indicating a tendency toward mid-range sizes. Regarding finger-specific suitability, domestic products showed appropriate fit with size 1 for the thumb, sizes 3–4 for the index, middle, and ring fingers, and sizes 5 and 7 for the little finger. For international products, size 2 was suitable for the thumb, and sizes 6–7 for the little finger. Size 0 showed limited usability in actual applications. This study highlights the necessity of designing products that reflect the nail dimensions of Korean women to enhance domestic market suitability. Furthermore, the findings can serve as a reference for size proposals in exports, considering differences in nail sizes by country and ethnicity. The results provide practical data to support the global competitiveness of the K-beauty industry.
