초록

This study was a preliminary research aimed at developing functional and safe laboratory coats. It analyzed the purchasing behaviors and key considerations of researchers engaged in laboratory work based on laboratory field, years of research experience, laboratory work hazards, and gender. The findings indicated that purchasing locations varied by laboratory field: researchers in chemistry and biology predominantly purchased from scientific supply stores, whereas those in the food sector tended to buy online. Researchers with shorter work experience were more likely to purchase laboratory coats from stationery stores and online platforms, whereas those with over three years of experience preferred scientific supply stores. Additionally, researchers working in high-risk environments perceived laboratory coats as requiring a higher price point and tended to obtain purchasing information from scientific supply stores. Those with longer research experience prioritized functionality, whereas those with shorter experience valued washability and lightweight materials. Key implications for developing functional and safe laboratory coats included the need to enhance functional features tailored to different laboratory fields, strengthen protective functions according to work hazard levels, improve user-specific design and activity ease, diversify distribution channels, and enhance accessibility to product information.
