초록

본 연구는 한국의 초등학생을 대상으로 동료지원학습전략(Peer Assisted Learning Strategies: PALS)을 적용하고 그 효과성을 독서능력의 향상과 독서태도의 변화로 살펴보았다. 서울의 한 초등학교의 3학년두 학급을 임의로 선정하여 한 반은 PALS를 실행하고 다른 반은 기존의 방식대로 8주 동안 개인별 독서활동을 하였다. 독서능력향상과 독서태도변화에 미치는 PALS 활용의 영향을 분석한 결과, PALS 사용 집단이 독서능력 향상에 우수함을 보였다. 그러나 독서태도 향상에 있어 PALS 실험 집단과 통제집단간의차이는 유의하지 않았다.

Abstract

This study examined the effects of Peer Assisted Learning Strategies(PALS) on Korean elementary students, analyzing students' comprehension test scores and change in students'attitudes towards reading. Two classes of third grade students at an elementary school in Seoul participated in the study. Each class was randomly assigned into an experimental group, PALS group, and a control group. The experimental group of students used PALS for their reading activities and the control group of students read books independently for 8 weeks. The results indicated that the PALS group of students significantly outperformed the non-PALS group of students based on improving comprehension test scores. However, there was no statistically significant difference between the experiment group and the control group in improving reading attitudes.
