Abstract
This paper examined the possibilities of using DEA as a supporting tool for the improvement of credit union management. DEA estimates relative efficiency of an organization unit and provides information about the reasons for inefficiency of an inefficient unit. The DEA methodology can be used as an useful tool to support 1,082 credit unions of different characteristics by the national federation with limited resourses. Using DEA, the national federation can identify efficient credit unions to be benchmarked by inefficient credit unions and then match them so that inefficient credit unions can get ideas from efficient credit unions for management improvement. This system can be a means of carrying out the cooperative principle of cooperation among cooperatives.
